Short Biography
Derrold Foster is an Associate Research Specialist with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and has over 31 years of experience with the Texas A&M University System in laboratory & pilot plant operations and management. For the last 20 years, Mr. Foster has held the position of Operations Manager at the TTI Sediment & Erosion Control lab located at the Texas A&M RELLIS Campus in Bryan, Texas. Mr. Foster is responsible for daily scheduling and operations of the lab and managing and coordinating testing schedules and contracts. Mr. Foster has been involved with managing the physical research aspects of many various TXDOT, NCHRP, FHWA, AASHTO, NTPEP, TCEQ, EPA and other projects and has been a co-author on many of these project reports.
Mr. Foster has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University. He is an active directing member of the Erosion Control Technology Council (ECTC) and is a member of the ASTM D 18 Committee on Soil & Rock. Mr. Foster is also an active member of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA). Mr. Foster has been a speaker and presenter at many various agency conferences and events and was awarded the 2023 Richard S. Ladd Standards development Award for his work with the development of ASTM D8297-Determination of Erosion Control Products (ECP) Performance in Protecting Slopes from Sequential Rainfall Induced Erosion Using a Tilted Bed Slope. In 2017 the TTI-SEC Lab was awarded the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) Environmental Excellence Award.
